Kenosha Achievement Center Prepares 500 Care Packages Amidst COVID-19 Crisis

April 28, 2020 (Kenosha, WI.) Kenosha Achievement Center (KAC), empowering individuals of all abilities, is preparing to deliver roughly 500 care packages to the families and clients they serve. The nonprofit’s goal goes beyond just providing families and individuals with items to help keep busy, it is also an effort to spread love and hope from a distance during the difficult times brought on by COVID-19.

Drastic, statewide changes have been in place since Gov. Evers declared Wisconsin’s ‘Safer at Home’ order on March 24. Many households are now managing new challenges, additional stress and isolation as they prepare for a brighter, safer future.

“We are maintaining as much of our service offering as possible, but at the individual level, we still miss seeing our families and clients every day,” says Chris Weyker, chief executive officer at KAC. “Through these times of uncertainty we want to continue to provide our care and support as much as possible right now. Our KAC CARES Packages represent how even though we are all safer at home, we will always stand together.”

Individuals can join in on KAC’s care package initiative through monetary contributions. Donations will be spent directly on items to fill care packages such as art supplies, toys and games.

KAC considers the health and safety of its community, employees, participants and their families a priority. In regards to the COVID-19 pandemic, KAC remains open and intends to provide essential services for as long as possible. This includes operating Care-a-Van Transportation Services, offering virtual home visits and therapy sessions, preparing Meals on Wheels deliveries, providing janitorial and maintenance at Pleasant Prairie Rest Stop #26 and more. Kenosha Achievement Center looks forward to returning its services to normal operations as soon as it is safe to do so.
