KAC employment training program participants (top to bottom: Tom, Nicole and Columba) prepare cookie baking kits in preparation for Kenosha HarborMarket.

Kenosha Awesome Cookies was founded in December 2020, when Voyage program participants voiced an interest in learning the ins and outs of running a business. This idea fits nicely with one of the program’s goals to increase independence. KAC staff provided the support and resources needed to move forward with the idea. Program participants developed the project name and logo and insisted on baking and taste-testing each flavor to ensure quality. Kenosha Awesome Cookies has become the cornerstone of KAC’s employment training program so more participants can continue learning job-related skills.

These days, the cookie crew is busy ramping up production in preparation of stocking 800 kits at Kenosha HarborMarket. Each cookie baking kit costs 10 dollars and consists of one 32-ounce mason jar filled with the dry ingredients needed to make a batch of cookies. Four flavors are available, including white chocolate lemon, triple chocolate chip, dark chocolate peanut butter and m&m.

“Our entire community has really rallied behind the success of what started as such a small idea,” says Kourtney Bilotta, youth services manager at KAC. “Recently, we even expanded Kenosha Awesome Cookies to involve more of KAC’s program participants. It’s the support from our community that has allowed us to continue growing our project as we process new orders and improve our strategy. If you haven’t tried a cookie baking kit from Kenosha Awesome Cookies yet, we hope to see you at the HarborMarket!”

Proceeds from Kenosha Awesome Cookies benefit KAC’s employment training. For more information or to place an advance order, click here to view the order form then contact the cookie crew directly at kenoawesomecookies@thekac.com.
